Chances are the NFL franchise in Washington has found a new name.

Formerly known as the Redskins, the Washington squad looks like it could be renamed Sentinels, which bears the same name as the crew in the movie titled “The Replacements.”

A Reddit user apparently discovered that the company that manages Redskins.com, recently registered for the domain name, DCSentinels.com. The 2000 football movie, which stars star actor Keanu Reeves, was based on the 1987 Redskins replacement players.

When the XFL made its comeback this year, the Washington team changed its name to DC Defenders, but they were originally considering changing to the name Sentinels, which was filed in 2019.

Other team names that have gained popularity among online fans include: Generals, Red Tails, Seminoles, and Red Wolves. The Sentinels were a long shot at first, but if this Reddit user did his homework correctly, there’s a good chance that would be the franchise’s new moniker.
