There are now 5,541 people who died from COVID-19 in Quebec, health officials said on Thursday, as confirmed cases in the province reached 55,593. This represents an increase of 14 out of the total of 5,527 deaths reported on Wednesday; eight of the recently reported deaths occurred in the past 24 hours, health officials said, while six occurred before June 24.
COVID-19 cases in Quebec increased by 69 out of the 55,524 announced the previous day.
On Thursday, 411 people were treated for COVID-19 in Quebec hospitals, down 11 from 422 reported on Wednesday. Among those hospitalized, 32 are in intensive care, one less than the 33 reported 24 hours earlier.
The number of people in Quebec who recovered COVID-19 as of Thursday is 25,034, an increase of 85 compared to the 24,949 recoveries reported the day before.
Quebec said it had 8,703 COVID-19 tests on Tuesday, up 1,940 from 6,763 the day before. (Quebec reports its daily test figures for the previous two days).
