Prince Harry and Meghan have left the royal family

In January, Prince Harry and Meghan dropped a huge announcement – their intention to step back from royal duties to have the opportunity to live away from the spotlight and constant media scrutiny.

When Queen Elizabeth met with Harry, Prince William and Prince Charles to discuss the matter, it was decided that the Sussexes would relinquish their royal duties, their HRH titles and any public funding.

At the time, the Queen released a statement supporting Prince Harry and Meghan’s exit plan which noted, in part: ‘Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family. I recognize the challenges they have faced as a result of careful consideration over the past two years and support their desire for a more independent life.

Prince Harry and Meghan are looking for a role

Since they officially left the royal family on March 31, there has been a lot of speculation about what they are doing. The couple moved to Los Angeles amid the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and were limited in their activities due to social distancing and quarantine requirements.

Author Tom Quinn, who wrote the book Kensington Palace: an intimate memory of Queen Mary to Meghan Markle, shared that, according to a source, the couple are “looking for a role” now that their royal life is behind them.

Quinn told Fox News: “With Harry in the United States, there is a risk that he could say or do something that will look bad on the Royal Family. Going to the States is just the last step in what feels like a desperate search for meaning. The royals feel they are desperate for a role in life because they don’t have one.

“The royal family is nervous,” he added. “You know, where will they go next? I’ve heard before that Harry isn’t very happy in California, so they can go somewhere else.

They would work hard on Archewell

In an article written for Town & Country, royal expert Victoria Murphy explained how the Sussexes are spending their time – they have big plans for their Archewell charity and that means there’s a lot of work to be done.

“Some people may find it unsettling to leave an institution with such a clear structure and a definite goal of going it alone,” Murphy wrote. “Others may wonder to what extent the Sussexes will be able to clearly shape a new and enduring identity. But, according to those familiar with their work, Harry and Meghan have no doubts about their current goal.

A source explained how Prince Harry and Meghan are approaching their new project. “They’re working tirelessly on the development of Archewell – their new nonprofit organization – and it gives them a lot of energy,” the insider explained.

“They want to see positive and substantial change happen in this world, and they want to raise the voices and platforms of dynamic and diverse leaders of all kinds who are already making this change a reality,” the source added. “They want to focus on supporting and strengthening the community. In many ways, what people have seen is that Archewell is already on the move. And there is a lot to come.
