Prince George, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 5, looked after the chickens they raised from chicks. The children of William and Kate seem to take after Prince Charles who also likes to raise birds. The two young royals isolate themselves at Anmer Hall in Norfolk with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their brother Prince Louis.

The kids loved going out to check their chickens when they weren’t inside the 10-bedroom country house.A source told the Sun: “The great interest outside of Anmer Hall is the chickens, reared with chicks.

“Kate and the kids go out into the chicken coop every day, picking up fresh eggs in their baskets, and the eggs are then used in the kitchen almost immediately.

“Kate and the kids have a well-appointed chicken coop and a safe fox-proof chicken coop full of healthy food and treats.

“Biological self-sufficiency is the name of the game with the Cambridges. “

The Duchess of Cambridge encourages children to spend time outside to be healthy.

Previously, she said, “I think spending time outdoors when we are young can play a role in setting the foundation for children to grow up to be happy and healthy adults.”

A source told the Sun: “Charles is an all-time chicken enthusiast, has encyclopedic knowledge of most breeds and knows how to breed them.

“’Cluckingham Palace’ is what is sometimes called his home. ”

Prince Charles is such a passionate chicken farmer that he wrote a front page in a book on birds.

The book The Illustrated Guide to Chickens: How to Choose Them, How to Keep Them, was written by Celia Lewis.

The source added, “Even Camilla enjoys hearing and watching Charles’ chickens in their fields and orchards in Highgrove.

“They seem very happy and are discussed by the royal couple. “

Prince George and Princess Charlotte also have a vegetable patch at Anmer Hall.

They grow lettuce, small cucumbers and cherry tomatoes.

A source previously told the Sun: “Every child in Cambridge was given small gardening tools, including trowels, rakes, shovels, small spades and mini wheelbarrows, brightly colored watering cans, mini gloves gardening to avoid cuts and stings or totally dirty hands and nails. “
