Prince Andrew does not appear in Princess Beatrice wedding photos released by Palace

LONDON – Princess Beatrice wore a vintage dress her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II loaned her during her wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Buckingham Palace said on Saturday when official photographs of the private family event were released . The Queen’s granddaughter and the property mogul tied the knot on Friday in the Chapel of All Saints at the Royal Lodge in Windsor. The 94-year-old British monarch and her husband Prince Philip, 99, were in attendance along with the parents and siblings of the bride and groom.

The palace said guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19 were followed during the ceremony. Music was playing but there were no hymns or songs – not even during the national anthem “God Save the Queen”.

Beatrice, 31, wore a vintage ivory taffeta dress by Norman Hartnell and a diamond tiara worn by the Queen on her wedding day in 1947. The 36-year-old groom wore a morning suit.

Beatrice, the daughter of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, had initially planned to marry Mapelli Mozzi on May 29 in the Chapel Royal of St. James’s Palace. The ceremony has been postponed due to the pandemic.

The wedding was also overshadowed by questions about Andrew’s friendship with the late American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The prince ceased to hold public royal office amid requests by the American authorities to question him about Epstein, who died in a New York prison in August 2019 while he was accused of sex trafficking.

Andrew does not appear in the two wedding photos published by the palace, which show the couple leaving the church and with the Queen and Prince Philip.
