TORONTO – Ontario Premier Doug Ford is expected to make an announcement Tuesday afternoon. Ford will be joined by Long-Term Care Minister Merrliee Fullerton, Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie and Trillium Health Partners President and CEO Michelle DiEmanuele to make the announcement at 1 p.m. in Mississauga.

CTVNewsToronto.ca will broadcast the announcement live.

The announcement comes a day after the Ontario government gave the green light to all but three regions of the province to move to Stage 3 on Friday.

The regions of Durham, Halton, Hamilton, Niagara, Haldimand-Norfolk, Lambton and York are included in the list going forward.

However, Toronto, Peel and Windsor-Essex will be held back at Stage 2 for at least one more week, as the province waits four full weeks of COVID-19 data from reopening.

“This is a clear sign that we are making steady progress,” Premier Doug Ford said on Monday. “Tens of thousands of people are returning to work. But we cannot stop. And we will not rest until all of Ontario reaches Stage Three. We will not stop until all workers in Ontario get back to work and get back on their feet. ”

Ford urged regions that are not progressing to Stage 3 to be “patient” and that those regions “will get there very soon.”
