The Premier League ended nearly a year after its start on Sunday with European qualification and relegation taking place on the edge.Manchester United and Chelsea secured their places in the top four with Leicester narrowly missing – although their striker Jamie Vardy finished victorious in the Golden Boot.

Aston Villa secures their top-flight status with Bournemouth and Watford both heading for at least one season in the Championship.

But this year has been devoted to Liverpool who finally ended a three-year wait for a top-flight title.

The Reds have been by far the most consistent and efficient team in the Premier League and the stats back it up.

Manchester City were unable to offer Liverpool a challenge but had Kevin De Bruyne in excellent form for much of the year, tying 17-year-old Thierry Henry’s record for assists.
