Lockdown gave the television sensation time and a chance to write down everything that went on behind the scenes of his life, his career, his family and his friends.
The shockwaves were sent around the world of showbiz when Phil announced that he was gay after being married to Steph for almost 27 years and raising their adult daughters.
In a camera play, the star of This Morning explained that he was unable to write this book until he revealed his sexuality to the world.
He said: ” [In 2017] I sent it to a few friends and they told me OMG that you should write this and I said I couldn’t, you know why. And then my life changed…
« [It goes] behind the scenes of my life and my career and my family and friends the ups and downs that there have been. I was honest and I am me. ”
Entitled Life Is What You Make It, the book will hit shelves in October this year.
Phil was thrilled to tell fans that he had been asked to write a book several times over the years.
The aspiring new author has declared the book to be “work in progress” over the years.
He wrote: “After being interrogated several times and after many years of wanting it, I wrote my autobiography. I wrote the first line of the book, in my head, when I was about 14 years old.
“I had to wait until 2017 for me to finally write the first chapter and then I stopped because the moment had not come. It is certainly a work in progress!
“Over the years, I have taken notes on the stories and events in my life that I think would tell my story.
“Finally, in Lockdown, I knew that all the pieces of the puzzle had been put in place and I was ready to write – that and a new discovery … lots of free time!
“It was a fascinating experience, both immense and very moving. Finally, after all these years, I am happy that it has gone from my head to the page. ”
