Pep Guardiola takes stock of Kevin De Bruyne’s injury before the Arsenal FA Cup semi-final

Pep Guardiola says Kevin De Bruyne should be fit to play in the next games for Manchester City after being injured in the 5-0 win over Newcastle. City won a comfortable victory at Etihad Stadium, thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, David Silva, Raheem Sterling and a goal from Federico Fernandez.

With Liverpool now confirmed Premier League champion, Guardiola’s team are focusing on their remaining cup competitions, with a Champions League draw against Real Madrid in the round of 16.

Last season’s triple national winners also played in an FA Cup semifinal against Arsenal last Saturday.

De Bruyne has been instrumental in City this season and is on track to match Thierry Henry’s record for most assists in the Premier League season after establishing his 18th league goal in Mahrez’s exit .

And Guardiola admitted he was worried when De Bruyne fell towards the end of the match after a heavy challenge from Danny Rose.

But the City boss thinks the midfielder should be well before the clash of the cup against Arsenal.

“I was shaking,” said Guardiola on the club’s official website. ” It was scary. But after the third goal, he made two big runs and I thought he was in good shape.

“I didn’t speak to her because of the social isolation. We have two or three changing rooms.

“The doctor said nothing to me. ”

He added, “This game is about winning, that’s all. We did it recently. We are in a good position in the Premier League, scoring a lot of goals.

“This is how we want to play, for our people. Respect football. That’s all. And prepare well for Arsenal and the return match for Madrid. ”
