This has led to an endless stream of speculation linking the North London club to countless potential targets.
The name of Thomas Partey continues to be linked to the Gunners, while the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the club remains uncertain.
Here are three of Arsenal’s biggest and most intriguing transfer stories today.
Salzburg midfielder has ‘several offers’ amid Arsenal interest
Dominik Szoboszlai’s agent confirmed that the Red Bull midfielder Salzburg had received “several offers” to leave the Austrian club this summer, with Arsenal among those linked.
The 19-year-old was mentioned as a potential target for AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain as well as for the Gunners, his release clause standing at 25 million euros (£ 23 million).
Speaking to the Hungarian outlet Nemzeti Sport (via Semper Milan), Esterhazy Matyas stressed that his client had a number of options but would not be rushed into a decision.
“There is no update, there are several offers,” he said.
“We have time, there is no need to rush. The seasons in some countries are not even over. We are looking for the best solution for Dominik. Decisions could be made in the coming weeks. “
Arsenal starts talks with 21-year-old defender
Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Malang Sarr on an agreement that could see the 21-year-old defender move to north London as a free agent.
Team Talk says the Gunners beat Manchester City and RB Leipzig in the race to sign the central defender.
Sarr is nearing the end of his contract with Nice, where he has played more than 100 Ligue 1 games in the past four seasons.
Arsenal have yet to bid for Sarr, but Arteta and technical director Edu are said to be ready to take the player to the club this summer.
Reims central back Axel Disasi is also reportedly on the Gunners’ radar as they seek to review their defense before the 2020/21 season, William Saliba finally arriving at the Emirates Stadium after a year on loan at Saint-Etienne.
Barcelona authorizes Arsenal to go on loan
Samuel Umtiti is expected to leave Barcelona this summer with the Catalan club ready to let the French defender sign for another club on loan.
Arsenal have been linked on several occasions to a move for Umtiti this season after the central defender fell
in hierarchical order at Camp Nou behind Gérard Piqué, Clément Lenglet and Ronald Araujo.
Sport reports that Barça is expected to recruit a new central defender this summer, with Eric Garcia of Manchester City leading their list. This would allow Umtiti to leave Catalonia.
