Chris Froome ignored a shower of urine to defiantly walk up the Champs-Élysées and win his second Tour de France title that day in 2015.Two years after securing his first victory in the race, Froome started as one of the favorites and took the lead after the sixth stage after Tony Martin retired due to injury.

Froome and Team Sky have been immersed in increasingly scrutiny of their continued success, mostly from fans and the media in France.

The Briton said he was struck by what he described as “a small cup of urine” thrown by a fan on the 14th stage of the race, adding: “It is not acceptable. We are professionals – for somebody to come and do this it is not.

Eventually, Froome resisted the challenge of his closest rival, Nairo Quintana, to secure victory on a rainy afternoon in Paris – and temporarily silence his critics in the French countryside.
