“You can’t have good scientific judgment without random sampling, and I doubt they will introduce random tests across the city, but what you can know about the percentage of positives is that even if you don’t know the absolute prevalence of the disease in the community, you know where you should divert your energies. ”

The city mayor added that the figures suggest that up to 10-20% of tests across the UK take place in Leicester – with a “hyper-local center” accounting for 20% of all tests in the country. at one point. .

“Here in Leicester, we have been doing more testing than anywhere else in the UK in recent weeks,” he said.
