New Ford Bronco: chassis and transmission
Like most purpose-built all-terrain vehicles, the new Ford Bronco is based on a high-strength steel chassis and has a wealth of heavy equipment, such as selectable all-wheel drive, a solid rear axle , differential front and rear locking, large underbody protection panels and a two-speed transfer case.

Ford’s new terrain management system offers a choice of seven driver profiles, four of which are suitable for off-road conditions. Buyers have the choice between two turbocharged petrol engines. The entry-level model has a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, which develops 266 hp and 420 Nm of torque. Ford’s flagship Bronco will be powered by a 2.7-liter V6, with 306 hp and 542 Nm of torque.
There is also a choice of two transmission options, with buyers offering either a seven-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission. The former has a low-end track speed ratio of 94.75: 1, while the latter has a maximum gear ratio of 67.8: 1.

The style of the new Ford Bronco was strongly inspired by the company’s first generation model. The company’s engineers started the off-road design process by 3D scanning the original model and working around its proportions, essentially resizing its lines to meet modern safety and performance requirements.
