Love them or hate them, there is no doubt that electric ATVs have changed the way that a good part of the ATV population. Mondraker now hopes to bring the same revolution to the youngest riders in the sport by launching their Grommy balance bike, available in 16 “and 12” versions for children from 3 to 8 years old.
The big news here will of course be the engine. On a traditional electric ATV, the engine is a help. This means that when you pedal, it adds power to what you produce. On a balance bike, no pedal input is possible, so Mondraker instead designed a 250 W brushless motor with a gas input. The accelerator is controlled by a change of grip and has three power modes – “Balance” (maximum speed 8.1 km / h, 5 mph), “Fun” (max 12.1 km / h, 7.5 mph) and “Advanced” (max 17.7 km / h, 11 mph). Yes, that’s right, 3 year olds with an accelerator propelling themselves to 11 mph. It can also be disabled if cyclists want to use the Grommy without power. The engine has an operating time of 40 to 60 minutes and a full charge time of 60 minutes.
