Mohamed Salah pursues three records after “selfish” claim against Liverpool striker

Mohamed Salah has three records in sight before the season ends, after Graeme Souness called the Liverpool striker “selfish” after the 3-1 victory over Brighton.Although portrayed as a critic elsewhere, the former Reds captain made it a compliment when he spoke of Salah’s determined approach to scoring goals.

Salah scored twice in the Amex stadium win, and he also played a role in Jordan Henderson’s long range shot as the champions clinched a 30th win in 34 games this season.

“He was there tonight from the first minute,” Souness told Sky Sports.

” I think so [the Golden Boot] is important to him.

“You saw his reaction when people didn’t find him late in the game in the last third.

Salah breaks records for the rest of the season

“He shot at every opportunity, and his teammates will not have been satisfied with him two or three times.

“But he is still selfish. I think tonight he was super selfish. He really wants his Golden Boot. ”

And if Salah had to ensure that Golden Boot would be the first player in 23 years to win it in three successive seasons, after Alan Shearer between 1994/95 and 1996/97.

The Egyptian is currently on 19 keystrokes for the season, behind only Jamie Vardy (22) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (20), who shared the price with Salah and Sadio Mane of Liverpool with 22 keystrokes last season. Salah scored a season record 38 games with 32 goals in 2017/18.

Saah’s second goal in Brighton was his 19th of the season

Salah’s second milestone is to reach 100 goals for Liverpool in all competitions before the end of the campaign.

He currently has 94 goals in 148 appearances as he offers to become the 17th player to score a century of goals for the Reds.

The third record, of course, is Liverpool’s attempt to beat the Manchester City 100-point total established two years ago.

The Reds need nine more points from their four remaining games to exceed this total, which they will surely do if Salah achieves his personal goals.
