The Migos are said to have filed a lawsuit against lawyer Damien Granderson, claiming that he had “deceived” the group out of millions. Granderson is also a long-time quality control lawyer and the group has said that they favor the label in many contract negotiations. According to the complaint, Granderson “abused his position of trust as a Migos trustee from the time he was retained as a lawyer for Migos” and “cheated [the group] over millions of dollars, “because of his” glaring conflicts of interest “in favor of quality control.Among some of the other claims put forward by Migos, Granderson allegedly “concealed” the exclusive distribution agreement that Quality Control entered into with Capitol. According to the complaint, the agreement “would allow Capitol to distribute all of the albums produced by QCM and that QCM would derive much more generous benefit from it than was evident from the documents that Granderson had personally presented to Migos for immediate execution.”

QC CEO Pierre “Pee” Thomas went to Instagram and offered some comments on the situation. “It is unfortunate that the same people for whom we have worked hard, provided opportunities and defended now argue that we have participated in or benefited from any type of immoral or unfair business practices, in particular while we are facing the death of an artist on our label who was dear to us, ”wrote Thomas in a long article on IG.

Pierre Thomas’ answer can be read in full below:

It is unfortunate that the same people for whom we have worked hard, provided opportunities and defended now argue that we have participated in or benefited from any type of immoral or unfair business practices, especially during that we are dealing with the death of an artist on our label that was dear to us.

We have always practiced honest business and complete transparency from the start when we started quality control music. We have built this business on family values, which has been so difficult to do when you are dealing with such pride and ego. The problem I struggle with in this job as a black man is jealousy, hatred, division and lack of communication. I was a millionaire before I got into the world of music and for me to know the sacrifices that I made for the people in which I invested and where I invested every dollar, blood, sweat and tears is nonsense. I will not allow the reputation of Quality Control Music and all that we have built and sacrificed to be tarnished by allegations of unfair and unfair business practices. I am a student of this game and I have seen several black record company owners get destroyed by the same things I am facing right now. This is why the majority of people in this business find themselves in financial turmoil and ultimately fail to reach their full potential.

It is quite difficult to fight and to fight with societies and the powers that be, I do not do it with those whom I consider to be family. I love my artists and I love my team. Each has their own lawyers. I understand in this business that you are not always going to end up with the people you started with. I say that to say that I am not forcing anyone to do business with us who has a problem and who cannot communicate and who does not want to work as a unit. Everything is negotiable. I wish my whole team more money, more blessings and continued success. # LongLiveMarlo🙏🏾
