Michael Bisping thought his rivalry with Dan Henderson was dead and buried.
After splitting two fights in their respective careers and both now retired, the former UFC middleweight champion thought he had reached a place where he could in fact be cordial to Henderson.
Then last weekend, during the broadcast of UFC 251 where Bisping was working on comments, Henderson posted a pair of messages on Twitter that restarted the beef. Henderson first referred to knockout against Bisping at UFC 100, then shot the life-changing injury to the British fighter originally suffered in a loss to Vitor Belfort in 2013.
The initial blow was already pretty serious given that the fight happened over a decade ago when Henderson chased Bisping in an unprovoked attack while working on a UFC event.
“I was like you f ** king assh * le,” said Bisping, addressing Henderson’s comments on his “Believe You Me” podcast. “What a pr * ck. I understand, but it was a long time ago. It was 11 years ago.
“I see Dan Henderson occasionally, not very often. I saw it, I was in Albuquerque or somewhere for a fight and Dan Henderson was there and we exchanged jokes and said hello. “Hey Dan, how are you?” that is just about everything. A quick “how is everything, everything is fine”. I thought you f ** king little sh * t. You little snake f ** king.
Bisping has remembered this defeat many times during his career and he understood that it was no longer part of his legacy now.
Why Henderson decided to come out of nowhere is what really caught him off guard.
“We had our thing, you knocked me out, you embarrassed me in front of the whole world,” said Bisping. “I was very frank and honest about it. I talked about it in my book. I talked about it in my next documentary on and when this documentary comes out, you’ll see. In the book, I go into detail and yes, it bothered me. But it’s part of history, it’s part of my MMA career. I would not change anything. I’m pretty glad it happened because it made me a better fighter.
“But for an older guy, an older man like him simmering, you’re a fucking king.” You are a piece of sh * t. Don’t be bitter. Just because he has nothing. I’m fine. This podcast is good, I comment, I have businesses. I’m not bragging, I’m just saying that my post-sports career is going well. I’m not sure what Dan Henderson is doing. “
After Bisping initially responded on social media, Henderson came back to him. This time he referred to a life-altering eye injury that nearly ended Bisping’s career after losing KO to Vitor Belfort in 2013.
Surprised to have seen this, I guess you don’t keep an eye on the fights as you are supposed to comment. No wonder your comment is shit. https://t.co/Gs8cVQ2xTy

Bisping has addressed the severity of the eye injury on numerous occasions, including the smallest details of his autobiography, “Quitters Never Win”.
For all the insults Henderson might have inflicted on him, Bisping says it was a bridge too far.
“I had loaded it in the room.” Some low and heavy blows. But I’m not going to go, ”revealed Bisping. “I would not go there. Believe me, I had a very, very, very, very important low blow which I will tell you to air but I would not do it because I am not ac * nt. I’m not an asshole. Certainly, as a fighter, I would not go after someone’s injury that f ** king did during steroids.
“Because any fighter who enters the cage runs the risk of being injured. They are at risk of life-long injury. They run the risk of brain damage. They run the risk of being f ** king killed and there is a certain honor among them. As you say honor among thieves or something. There should be a certain honor, a certain code between the fighters that many f ** king assh * seem to forget. They talk shit like this little shit Chad Mendes is another. You shouldn’t make fun of another fighter’s injury if it happened in the cage, in your sport. The chosen sport that you all pursue. It’s bad karma. It’s almost like asking the same fate. “
Considering that his career was almost ended with an eye injury, not to mention the consequences that will affect Bisping for the rest of his life, he had serious problems with Henderson who chose to respond to this during their exchange.
“To some extent, I f ** king wear it as a badge of honor. I don’t do it, I hide it at all times with a false lens, but you still understand what I’m doing, ”said Bisping. “I wear my cauliflower ears and my scars like a badge of honor. I cover my eyes all the time because I’m embarrassed by that and it’s a touchy subject but what a low, ugly just a scummy sh * tty moving around to say that.
“Certainly as I say as an older man who is retired, has children, and then goes after the life of another fighter to hurt injuries like that. I just thought you were really a little piece of shit and I’m f ** king happy – you want to talk about CTE and not being able to chain a ** ** king sentence together. This creaky old f ** king dinosaur, f ** k me, he can barely speak f ** king. He looks like the Hunchback of Notre-Dame. He cannot f ** king turn his head left or right. I don’t know what his personal situation is, but I don’t think he’s in very good health either. “
Although the two fighters are retired, Bisping seems more than ready to settle their grudge against Henderson if they meet again, especially after these last round trips on Twitter.
“So fuck you Dan Henderson,” said Bisping. “And if you have a problem with me baby f ** king boy, come tell my face f ** king like a real f ** king man because I’m going to stick the f ** king nut on you, all right af ** king-way, simple as f ** king that. You old ass squeaky f ** king c * nt. F ** k off, pr * ck. ”
