parMEXIQUE (Reuters) - Le Mexique a signalé 523 décès de coronavirus supplémentaires samedi, poussant son bilan à 30 366, dépassant la France pour devenir le cinquième au monde.
The Department of Health also reported 6,914 new infections and a total of 252,165 confirmed cases.
Deputy Minister of Health Hugo Lopez Gatell reiterated that the actual number of those infected was probably much higher.
“We knew from the start that the cases we are reporting here do not represent the total number of people with COVID-19 in Mexico,” he said at a regular press conference.
“Neither Mexico nor any other country in the world aims to make a comprehensive count. ”
Citing unpublished vital statistics, broadcaster Milenio said that on June 19, almost twice as many people had died from the virus, as reported by Lopez Gatell.
Reuters could not immediately verify the information.
