Masks are now mandatory indoors in Durham and Peel


It is now mandatory to wear masks in the Peel and Durham regions as the GTA continues to fight the spread of COVID-19.Masks will be required in all indoor public spaces, including retail stores, banks, malls and grocery stores.

Those who refuse to wear a mask can be dismissed from the service and asked to leave.

Brampton facilitates compliance by mailing three masks to each household in the city.

The masks will remain mandatory as long as there are zones in step 2 of the province’s reopening plan.

The masks became mandatory in Toronto on Wednesday and will be renewed monthly by the medical officer of health, Dr. Eileen de Villa.

York Region City Council on Thursday voted unanimously to make masks mandatory starting next week.
