Manchester Wetherspoons draws first pint in three months as customers return

Pubs are allowed to reopen today after the government ordered them to close in March – but ordering a pint may seem different from how you remember it

Paramount served its first pints in three months after the government closed pubs in March. The Oxford Street pub welcomed its customers this morning, but with a number of changes in place.

Pubs, bars and restaurants are allowed to reopen from today, July 4, as long as they are secured by Covid.

This means that measures must be put in place to allow for social distancing and strict hygiene practices.

Clude De Sousa, team leader at The Paramount, pulled the first pint when the doors opened this morning and several customers arrived to celebrate the grand reopening.

Sponsors are greeted by a large sign at the entrance explaining what they can and cannot do under the new rules.

There are also signs that tell people where to go and where to queue.
