ERIC GARCIA is about to snub Barcelona and sign a new five-year deal in Manchester City – TREBLER his salary.
The 19-year-old defenseman has dominated Pep Guardiola’s departure plans throughout this season.
The Spanish ace under 21 impressed and aroused the interest of his former Catalan club, as well as others across Europe.
But Garcia has had positive discussions with City in recent days and has agreed to sign new terms.
He is expected to enter into a long-term agreement, raising his salary from £ 12,000 per week to £ 40,000 per week plus bonuses.
The talented teenager made it clear to Guardiola that he wanted to stay and was happy with their plans for the future.
It is understood that the city’s football director, Txiki Begiristain, and Garcia’s agent and Barcelona legend Carles Puyol were the key to the discussions.
The four Premier League champions want the new deal to be signed and announced before the end of this season.
Garcia was considered the precious asset of the Barcelona Academy when he left them to settle in England in 2017.
This left the Spanish side livid, as he was compared and considered a long-term replacement for Gerard Piqué.
He made 12 first-team appearances for City this season, and Guardiola assured him he had a bright future.
The young central defender has two years left on his current contract and has rejected attempts to attract him.
