M11, M25 and A120 traffic: police will escort a huge 15 mph vehicle for more than four hours, while motorists have warned to avoid the area


Motorists on some of Essex’s busiest roads and motorways can expect serious delays tomorrow morning (Sunday 12 July).At 7 a.m., a vehicle carrying a large electronic transformer will drive to a National Grid substation near Braintree.

The journey will start in Tilbury, going up the M25, M11 and A120.

Unfortunately for motorists, the maximum speed for this operation is 15 mph.

The police will escort the vehicle and the entire journey should take between four and five hours.

Highways England tweeted: “On Sunday July 12th – in collaboration with National Grid – a large transformer was moved from the docks at Tilbury to the Braintree substation in #Essex.

“He will travel via M25, M11 and A120 with a police escort.

“Starting at 7 am and at speeds of 12 to 15 mph, it will take about four to five hours. ”

Motorists are advised to avoid routes tomorrow.

If they cannot, they should expect significant delays.
