Lord and Miller tease Silk’s arrival in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2

We have known for some time now that Sony brings new colorful heroes to team up with Miles Morales and his interdimensional spider friends in Spider-Man: in the Spider-Verse 2. The studio has not yet shared the characters who will debut in the sequel, but speculation continues to rage. Now producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have almost confirmed at least one new addition to the suite’s stacked distribution of wallcrawlers.

Lord went to Twitter earlier today to seek advice on preventing the spread of the coronavirus. Apparently, his ears “are not large enough or rigid enough” to support wearing a mask in the usual way. Miller responded by sharing an image of the perfect hero for the COVID-19 era: Silk (aka Cindy Moon), who wears a famous handkerchief to hide his identity. You can check out their exchange below.

The filmmakers behind the In the spider worm franchise planned to use Silk, a Korean-American character, in the original film. However, they decided to use Peni Parker (another Asian-American spider woman) and her SP // dr robot instead because she seemed more unique than the other heroes in the film. Silk should also appear in the next Sony In the spider worm spin-offs featured by female characters. In addition, the studio is still developing Silk film in their own Marvel universe live.

Spider-Man: in the Spider-Verse 2 finally started production last month. The film will hit theaters on October 7, 2022.
