Lampard has another search of Liverpool staff
Frank Lampard has renewed his attack on Jurgen Klopp’s coaching staff after his X-rated explosion at Anfield and accused them of ‘smirking’ and breaking a management code of respect.
The Chelsea boss swapped verbs with Liverpool backstage staff in the Reds’ 5-3 win at Anfield on Wednesday, before the two coaches shared their take on the blast in their latest press conferences .
And Lampard took the opportunity to have another dig into Klopp’s team, having previously accused them of arrogance.
“I think when you talk between managers there are a lot of decisions that go and you can hear it more clearly now without the crowd.
“And a lot of managers will call to make decisions and that can be true or false. And then you talk to each other.
“But when the people on the bench jump up and want to talk to myself and then smile and smile and keep doing that for a good while, I think it’s beyond code.
“With the cameras and the microphones, it was full screen and I regret the language I used. I couldn’t help but the passion I was feeling. It was not a fault as I saw it but even then I shouldn’t swear but I had an issue with some of the staff and it was against the operating code on the bench .
“I have an advantage. I couldn’t have played for Chelsea for this long in a team that fought for Premier League or Champions League winners pretty much every season I’ve been here.
“I’ve seen people around me who have an advantage. I can’t just sit there and demand an advantage from my players after Sheffield United and not have that in myself to try to move the club forward. This is not the right way to go with the language I used. “
