Hospitalizations and ICU admissions on the rise in Quebec

Quebec has registered 122 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 59,131, the provincial government announced this morning.

One new death has been reported. The death toll is now 5,673.

The number of hospitalizations jumped 18 to 208.

Of those hospitalized, 18 are in intensive care – double the number reported the day before.

The province performed 17,283 tests on Tuesday, the last day for which screening data is available. That is all that Quebec did in a day.

Via Twitter, the Minister of Health Christian Dubé focused on the number of tests. “It’s encouraging, we are continuing our work,” he tweeted.

Quebec has not held a press conference on the pandemic since Monday. Nothing indicates that we are scheduled for today.

The province made a change to data released yesterday, attributing the adjustment to a technical issue with a new computer system.

It says the number of cases should have been 112 instead of 176. And two deaths should have been reported instead of 1. The adjustments are reflected in the table below.
