Kiwis who missed their birthday because of the coronavirus lockup received a nice birthday present.

On Monday, anyone who has aged a year between March 13 and July 13 can go to a participating Auckland Krispy Kreme store and receive a dozen donuts for free.

It is to celebrate the 83rd anniversary of the donut chain and 60,000 original frozen donuts are up for grabs.

Those who spent their birthday in the isolation of Covid-19 will be entitled to a dozen free original frozen donuts.

They can be picked up at stores in Manukau, Newmarket, Chancery St and at Auckland National Airport.

Krispy Kreme NZ director of retail Antonio Rivera said the company had decided to share some joy with those who missed the locked out anniversary celebration.

“From toilet paper gifts to Zoom parties to less than impressive cakes, there is no doubt that birthday celebrations have been lacking in recent months.

People wishing to get their birthday donuts will have to “bring their photo ID, birthday spirit and good hygiene,” the company said.
