Francisco Trinaldo got things done earlier tonight (Saturday, July 25, 2020) at UFC on ESPN 14 live on ESPN / ESPN + from the Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as veteran Brazil finished England prospect Jai Herbert via third round TKO (punches).
It was not an easy fight for Trinaldo by any stretch of the imagination. The lightweight veteran was able to land a few teardowns in the first round, but Herbert’s size and strike really gave him problems. The Octagon newcomer landed sharp punches, knees in the clinch and crushed right hands in the pipe that blew Trinaldo up.
Trinaldo entered the third round having to really do some damage on the scorecards and did just that, landing a left counter that hit Herbert over the top of the forehead. Herbert fell to the canvas and Trinaldo waited to land a final shot before referee Herb Dean finally stepped in.
Check out the finish above and the rest of the highlights below, both courtesy of UFC / ESPN.
With this performance, Trinaldo locks in his third straight win after making decisions over veterans John Makdessi and Bobby Green. Trinaldo ran out of weight for this lightweight bout and will move up to welterweight his next time around, but his power should translate well into the 170-pound division.
