Kim Kardashian West spoke for the first time about her husband Kanye West’s bipolar disorder, describing him as a “bright but complicated person”.

Responding to the rapper’s now-deleted Twitter rant, Kardashian West told his 180 million subscribers, “As many of you know, Kanye suffers from bipolar disorder.

“Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does it knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand.

“I have never spoken publicly about how it has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy in his health.

“But today I think I should comment on this because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health. ”

Kardashian West described how loved ones of people with mental illness are “helpless”, adding that the individual must “be part of the process for getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”

“I understand that Kanye comes under criticism for being a public figure and his actions can sometimes provoke strong opinions and emotions,” she said.
