At the heart of Kate Middleton’s popularity
When the coronavirus pandemic hit last spring, most of the senior members of the royal family came out of the spotlight. After canceling their public engagements, for example, Queen Elizabeth withdrew to Windsor Castle while Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles took refuge in Scotland.
Queen Elizabeth and Charles both issued statements throughout the pandemic, but they largely stayed away while the country faced the foreclosure.
Kate and her husband, Prince William, however remained in the public eye. Although the couple isolate themselves in their campaign area, Anmer Hall, they have participated in many virtual engagements and have frequently updated fans on social media.

Between their meetings and activity on social networks, Kate and William quickly became the faces of the royal family. The extra attention paid huge dividends to Kate, who is now one of the most popular members of the royal family.
According to Express, a new poll has given Kate first place as the most popular royal. More than 4,000 people participated in the poll and Kate narrowly defeated Queen Elizabeth, who came in second with just under 1,000 votes.
William came third in the poll, followed by Prince Harry, Princess Anne and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, who took sixth place.
Friends of Meghan Markle deny poll results
Although Kate came out of the latest poll, Meghan fans were not happy with the results. Speaking to Twitter, many of the Duchess’ most loyal fans expressed disapproval of the poll, some commenting on a segment of Hello great britain which featured royal expert Russell Myers.
In the segment, Myers praised Kate for her work during the pandemic, especially when it came to talking about her difficulties at home school. But not everyone agreed with his assessment of the most popular royal.
” Not at all! Definitely Meghan, “wrote one fan, while another added,” Meghan Markle has never been number 1 since joining the royal family. “
Like Kate, Meghan has not strayed from the spotlight in recent months. A few weeks ago, the Duchess of Sussex spoke at the graduation ceremony of her former high school and addressed difficult issues such as inequality, police violence and racial tension.
That said, Meghan is no longer a member of the royal family, which is why she didn’t put it higher on the list. Meghan and Harry’s exit from the monarchy became official in late March and the two are now starting their new lives in Los Angeles.
Meghan may have left the royal spotlight, but she clearly has a loyal following.
Kate Middleton and Prince William had this advantage over the Sussexes
As fans continue to debate the popularity of Kate and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed an advantage over the Sussexes who have passed through them over the years.
As royal observers are well aware, Kate and William met while attending St. Andrews University in the early 2000s. The two started out as friends and dated for almost a decade before get married in 2011.
The years spent as friends have laid a solid foundation. According to Express, William and Kate discussed this in an interview from 2010 and admitted that it gave them a “huge advantage”.

“We ended up being friends for a while and it was kind of a good foundation,” said William. “Because I generally now believe that being friends with someone is a huge benefit.”
Meghan and Harry, of course, had a different path to marriage. The two have only been out for about a year before getting engaged. Despite their quick romance, Harry later admitted that “everything was just perfect.” ”
Kate did not comment on the latest poll, calling her the most popular royal.
