Kate Garraway’s husband Derek watches her on GMB for the first time since waking up from a coma


Kate Garraway emotional revealed how her husband Derek Draper watched her on television from the hospital, after visiting her last week.She confirmed the moment Derek, who woke up from his coma, watched her on TV for the first time since her battle began.

Her husband is still going through a “difficult” period in hospital after suffering from coronavirus in March.

Doctors warned Kate that Derek may never recover from the damage to his body from Covid-19, but last week she confirmed he had opened his eyes.

Now Kate has detailed for the first time how he was when she saw him last week.

Not only that, but she revealed a sweet nurses update that left her in tears on Tuesday’s live show.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Kate detailed some of the battles Derek has faced this week.

It was then that she burst into flames when she learned he may have watched her on GMB on Monday, after she returned to work.

She confirmed, “It’s really hello everyone, it’s really yeah.

“As you know Derek had a tough week last week, it’s the one thing we all have to face.

“He had a difficult week, he had two big drops in his blood pressure and also swelling in his legs with the fear that it might be clots, it was very, very emotional.

“He had clots in his lungs… I guess the worry would be that more clots would form.

Kate added: “He’s stable and yesterday I spoke to the nurses and they said they put on GMB and they felt like he was looking at her because his eyes were open he looked focused and engaged.

“I found it very touching, we don’t know if it was movement or light, so hello Derek if you are watching we are all sending you a lot of love.

Kate went on to tell co-host Ben Shephard that she was hoping to visit him today.
