Justin Bieber may subpoena Twitter for accuser identification in defamation lawsuit – Deadline

UPDATE: Justin Bieber’s lawyers can sue Twitter for the identities of two women who anonymously accused him of sexual assault on social media, a judge said Thursday. Spiegel told Los Angeles Superior Court judge Terry Green.

UPDATE, 7:15 a.m .: Justin Bieber has filed a libel suit against two anonymous Twitter users who accused the pop star of sexual assault.

Bieber has categorically denied the claims, saying they are “factually impossible and refuted by both compelling documentary evidence and the individuals’ own confessions,” according to the lawsuit filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court (read here) .

The complaint was filed against two Jane Does, identified only as Danielle and Kadi on social media, with the Twitter pseudonyms @danielleglvn and @ItsnotKadi.

“Danielle claimed to have been sexually assaulted at the Four Seasons Hotel on March 9, 2014, however, Bieber did not stay at this hotel in March 2014 and there are several witnesses and documentary evidence to dispute Danielle’s malicious lie” , indicates the complaint, and describing Kadi’s accusation as “even factually impossible, contradicted by his own previous written statements, supported only by falsified or faked texts”.

Kadi tweeted that early in the morning of May 5, 2015, “around 2:30 am, I was invited… to the Bieber Hotel (Langham Hotel)” in New York, before she was sexually assaulted.

“The allegations are in fact impossible, revealing and proving beyond any doubt that his post and his allegations on social media are a complete fabrication, an elaborate hoax,” the file said.

The lawsuit seeks at least $ 20 million in damages.

PREVIOUS, June 21: Justin Bieber flatly denies allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman in 2014, and says he plans to prosecute.

The woman, identified as Danielle, tweeted Saturday evening that the incident occurred at a hotel in Austin, Texas, on March 9, 2014. The woman, who was 21 years old at the time, claimed that Bieber sexually assaulted her after consensually overhearing, even though she objected to “going too far” with him. “My body was unconscious,” she says. “I don’t want to go into the details of what happened next. ”

Bieber went on Twitter Sunday evening to refute the allegation.

“I don’t normally get down to business because I’ve been facing random charges all my career, but after talking with my wife and my team, I decided to talk about an issue tonight,” said writes Bieber.

“Rumors are rumors, but sexual abuse is something I don’t take lightly,” he continued. “I wanted to speak up right away, but out of respect for so many victims who deal with these issues on a daily basis, I wanted to make sure I had gathered the facts before I made a statement.”

“In the past 24 hours, a new Twitter appeared that told a story about myself involved in sexual abuse on March 9, 2014 in Austin, Texas at the Four Seasons hotel. I want to be clear. There is no truth in this story. In fact, how soon I will show that I have never been there in this place, ”said Bieber. “As its story told, I surprised a crowd in Austin at Sxsw where I appeared on stage with my secondary scene while assistant and sang a few songs. What this person didn’t know was that I attended this show with my then-girlfriend Selena Gomez.

Bieber reinforced his denial with links to news articles, as well as screenshots of emails and housing receipts. He said he stayed at an Airbnb the night of March 9, 2014 and stayed at the Westin the following night.

“Any claim of sexual abuse must be taken very seriously and that is why my response was necessary. However, this story is actually impossible and that is why I will work with Twitter and the authorities to initiate legal proceedings, ”wrote Bieber.
