Jorge Masvidal, Israel Adesanya named EA Sports UFC 4 cover athlete

Jorge Masvidal and Israel Adesanya will be the official cover athletes for the upcoming EA Sports UFC 4 video game.

They join fellow fighters Jon Jones, Alexander Gustafsson, Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey as UFC fighters to appear on the popular franchise box.

“I’m the face of the new wave of UFC fighters, so it’s fair to portray sport in this next generation UFC game,” Adesanya said in a press release. “I can’t wait for my fans to play as much as I do as much as I like to play like me.”

New features fans can expect from the latest game include: a revamped career mode; withdrawal mechanisms and a submission system; commentary by Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik; and new combat environments such as UFC APEX, “The Backyard”, “Action Avenue” and “The Kumite” film arena Blood sport.

“MMA is much more than a belt. It’s about who you are as a person and the determination that drives a fighter from the unknown to the sale of arenas around the world, ”added Masvidal. “I grew up in backyard fighting, so it’s exciting for me to see this fighting style happen at UFC 4 where players can bring out their Gamebred mentality. “

The entire game is expected to hit tablets and digital platforms on August 14.

In addition to the new combat mechanics and environments, boxing champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will be available as a pre-order bonus.

“I devoted myself to fighting,” said Joshua in a press release. “No matter the scene or the opponent, I will always support myself. My character in UFC 4 will be no different. I’m ready for any challenge and hope we have created something in UFC 4 that can excite combat fans this year. “

“I have a lot of respect for the UFC fighters but I am the greatest fighter in the world. Added Fury. “It’s going to be exciting to see players use my boxing skills to outshine the most talented MMA fighters in UFC 4.”

Joshua and Fury will also be available through the gameplay and can only be unlocked once.

Other pre-order bonuses include Backyard and Kumite customization packs.

Regarding the availability of UFC 4 on next generation consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, EA Creative Director Brian Hayes said the possibility has not yet been determined.

“If both consoles support backward compatibility for generation 4 games, fans will likely be able to play UFC 4 on their generation 5 consoles,” said Hayes. “We haven’t had a chance to test this yet and determine if more development work is needed to take advantage of backward compatibility, but we hope to see UFC 4 playable on Gen 5 hardware using this feature.”

In terms of true octagonal cover athlete competition, Masvidal (35-13) is set to challenge defending welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at the UFC 251 main event in Abu Dhabi. The man known as “Gamebred” won three consecutive stop wins over Darren Till, Ben Askren and Nate Diaz, the latter earning him the title of “BMF” from the UFC.

Adesanya (19-0), the reigning UFC middleweight champion, recently defended his title with a decisive victory over Yoel Romero at UFC 243 in March. The victory kept the perfect record for “The Last Stylebender” intact and pushed its UFC winning streak to eight. He also has notable victories against Robert Whittaker, Kelvin Gastelum, Derek Brunson and Anderson Silva.

Although nothing is official, Adesanya is set to put her title on the line against fellow undefeated fighter Paulo Costa later this year.
