Johnny Depp Tells Defamation Trial That Amber Heard Hit Him With A Savage Punch

Johnny Depp accused Amber Heard of punching him with a “haymaker” punch in an altercation towards the end of their volatile marriage, while the star concluded his testimony in his defamation lawsuit against a sensational newspaper who accused him of domestic violence.Depp said the fight came after Heard’s 30th birthday party, and hours after learning that his former business leaders had fled with hundreds of millions of dollars.

Depp alleges that after the party he went to bed to read and that Heard began accusing him of ruining his birthday dinner before throwing him “hay”.

Depp’s lawyer David Sherborne asked him to explain the term American slang for judge Andrew Nicol.

“Hay is a type of wild swing, a circular punch, effective if it hits the target,” said Depp.

“I came across it,” noted the judge.

The Hollywood star is suing News Group Newspapers, the publisher of The Sun, and the editor of the newspaper, Dan Wootton, for an April 2018 article that called him a “woman drummer.” He firmly denies having abused Heard.

Depp, 57, and Heard, 34, met on the set of the 2011 comedy The Rum Diary and married in Los Angeles in February 2015. Heard, model and actress, filed for divorce the following year, and the divorce was finalized in 2017.

Depp said the couple separated after an argument following Heard’s 30th birthday party in April 2016. The actor said that just before the party, he attended a meeting and learned that his elders business leaders had “stolen my money”.

When asked how much money had been stolen, Depp said, “It’s a ridiculous amount to report, it’s kind of embarrassing – apparently I had made $ 650 million (all the numbers are United States) ”, largely due to its involvement with the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Depp added that in addition to losing the $ 650 million, he was “$ 100 million in the hole because they hadn’t paid my taxes to the government in 17 years”.

Depp and his former CEOs settled a legal dispute over the alleged fraud in 2018.

Heard is participating in the three-week trial and is expected to give his own version of the events later.

For five days in the witness booth, Depp described a tumultuous relationship with Heard during a period when he tried to kick drugs and alcohol, and sometimes fall.

He described the relationship as “a crime scene waiting to happen.” But he denied hearing Heard and accused him of compiling a false claims file against him as an “insurance policy”.

Defense of the Sun is based on a total of 14 Heard allegations regarding Depp’s violence between 2013 and 2016, in contexts such as his private island in the Bahamas, a rented house in Australia and a private jet.

After Depp’s testimony, his former personal assistant Stephen Deuters was in the witness cabin. He contradicted Heard’s account of an incident during a private plane flight from Boston to Los Angeles in May 2014. Heard alleges that the actor went wild, slapped and kicked him foot in the back because he thought she was having an affair with actor James. Franco.

Depp denied attacking Heard or getting out of control.

Deuters, who is now the European head of Depp’s production company, said Depp was silent and “introverted” on the plane. He said the couple had “some kind of argument,” but “it didn’t seem like a match of shouting obscenities.”

In a written statement from a witness, Deuters said the actor “made a playful attempt to hit (hear) the bottom with his shoe” but did not kick him.

He also alleged that Heard “was the abuser in the relationship” and that she “subjected Mr. Depp to years of abuse”.

Depp firmly denied all of Heard’s allegations, including an allegation that he had subjected him to a “three-day assault test” in March 2015 in Australia, where Depp appeared as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Deuters agreed that the couple had an argument, which resulted in the destruction of their home and the breakdown of Depp’s fingertips to the bone.

Depp accuses Heard of cutting her fingertip by throwing him a bottle of vodka, a claim she denies.

Depp said Monday that he had a severed finger surgery on his return to the United States and that he had developed a “painful” infection with the superbug, MRSA.

He said that the marriage had finally broken down after an incident in which he accused Heard or one of his friends of having defecated in the couple’s bed after the April 2016 birthday party, an accident that Heard imputed to his Yorkshire terriers.

“I thought it was a strangely appropriate ending to the relationship,” Depp said Friday.
