He shared a video of Alan cuddling his newborn daughter Ella as he shared his grief.
Joe, 38, said it was “good to see your father better” in the comments section, which left James’ followers puzzled.
Many accused the former actor of EastEnders of not having read the legend correctly because they stressed how sick Alan is.
James revealed that his father had been in and out of the hospital in the past few months.
Doctors previously thought he had a stroke and seizures, but have now diagnosed him with an aggressive form of cancer.
The former Strictly star said, “This video is the most precious and personal thing I have in my life right now and I will share it with you but with a totally broken heart. ”
He added, “So after pushing for more tests and the results sent to Kings College Hospital for other surgeons to examine, unfortunately the results came back, it was not a stroke after all.
“That’s what I feared, my father has a tumor and after having a biopsy, he came back that it is an aggressive cancerous tumor. The worst kind unfortunately. ”
Joe commented on the post: “This video is amazing !! It’s so good 2 to see your father do better xxxxx. ”
His comment confused Instagram users.
One said, “His father is” no better, “he has just been diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor. Read the article carefully… ”
“Buddy, his father is really bad,” said another.
It is now clear why Joe commented on this on the post.
James’ father looks good in the video and Joe may not have read the caption.
Mirror Online contacted Joe’s representatives for comments.
