Auckland producer (real name Joshua Stylah) is only the third New Zealander to lead the ARIA Singles charts in 37 years of history. And at 17, he is the youngest.
It has been almost a quarter of a century since an issue of Kiwi led the Australian singles charts. OMC did this for the last time with “How Bizarre” in April 1996. The first New Zealander to lead the charts was Dave Dobbyn with Herbs “Slice Of Heaven” in May 1987.
“Savage Love”, which is also governing the Official UK Singles Chart this week, becomes the fourth No. 1 single in Australia for American R&B singer Derulo after “In My Head” (February 2010), “Talk Dirty” (August 2013 ) and “Trumpets” (December 2013).
Meanwhile, “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles (Columbia / Sony) rises from 6 to 5, a new high. The LP from which it came out, Fine Line, improves from 6 to 3 its 29th week on the graph of ARIA albums.
Blackpink K-pop stars reached the ARIA charts for the second time in 2020 with “How You Like That” (Interscope / Universal). It is new at # 12, the highest start on the current frame.
The quartet had an impact on the Australian survey earlier in 2020 with “Sour Candy”, their collaboration with Lady Gaga who has a ranking peak # 8. Blackpink appeared for the first time on the count with “Kill This Love ”of 2019, which peaked at No. 18.
Finally, Guy Sebastian returns to the investigation with “Standing With You” (Sony), his first single released in 2020 and the fourth released from his next ninth studio. It is his 24th title to appear in the ARIA Top 50. Sebastian is the reigning ARIA song champion of the year with “Choir”.

The vinyl edition of the multi-disc compilation will be released on July 31.
American psychedelic rock band Khruangbin debuts with Mordechai (Dead Oceans / Inertia), new number 4 on the list of ARIA albums (Mordechai leads the list of ARIA vinyl albums), Haim wins a third successive top ten with Women In Music Pt. III (Polydor / universal). It’s new at # 7.
