Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn admits it has been a privilege to play alongside Jack Grealish as Manchester United seek a summer transfer. The Aston Villa captain played a pivotal role for his childhood club on his return to the Premier League and scored a crucial goal to ensure his survival in the final day’s draw with West Ham.

After another encouraging season, Grealish is now set to leave Villa Park in the summer transfer window with the favorites United to secure a deal.

McGinn praised his teammate for staying focused on transfer interests elsewhere and said he hoped the 24-year-old would stay, but admitted he didn’t know what the future held.

“Jack scored a massive goal for this club and no one can escape it,” said McGinn. “He woke up on Sunday and we had a conversation, the whole goal was to keep Villa in this league.

“Our goal last season was to get the club promoted, our goal this year was to keep them in the league and we managed to do that.

“What’s going on now, I’m not sure, but Jack is still under contract here.” It has been a privilege to play alongside him and I hope that continues, but you never know in football.
