Here’s how to get your share of the $ 500 million Batterygate trial

Apple is spitting $ 500 million to settle a class action against Batterygate, which, if you didn’t already know, has seen the company reduce the performance of previous generation iPhones to improve battery health.

Where it all started: At the end of 2017, the company started to intentionally slow down its iPhones and explained that it was not to degrade the battery inside consumers’ iPhones. Apple then offered cheap battery replacements for $ 29, then added a feature to allow users to check their battery status in real time with iOS 11.3.

At the time, the apology was pathetic, but earlier this year, Apple agreed to settle the class action for $ 500 million. Affected customers would get $ 25 per iPhone, and there is now a website that allows all affected iPhone users to submit a claim for payment of $ 25 from Apple.

The website reads: If you are or were a U.S. owner of an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus and / or an SE device that was running iOS 10.2.1 or later before December 21, 2017, and / or a U.S. owner of an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus that was running iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017, you may be entitled to benefits as part of a class action settlement« .
