GORDON Ramsay just loves winding up fellow chefs, with Rick Stein, his latest victim.
The Scot is in talks to take over Rick port restaurant in Porthleven, Cornwall that has been forced to close due to the impact of Covid-19.
Gordon, who owns a number of houses in the South-West, is keen to expand his restaurant empire.
A source said: “Gordon is very interested in the support, as he feels he has a lot of potential.
“It already has a certain legitimacy because of Rick association, but Gordon believes that he can take it up a notch.
“This is not a done deal, but there’s a good chance that it will seal the agreement.”
Gordon, who The Sun revealed last month was to return to ITV for a new series of Hell’s Kitchen, annoyed the residents of Cornwall with his presence at lockdown.
The inhabitants, there has been a problem with the Michelin-starred chef, after he moved his family from London, with residents fearing the visitors might be carriers of coronavirus.
But that has not put in wanting to add the Cornwall restaurant to its empire in the world, with points of sale in London, Las Vegas and Dubai.
Rick announced the closure of its Porthleven restaurant this month, saying: “We would like to thank all our customers who have supported us over the last few years.
“We hope that you find your way to our other restaurants, where we can share good memories of nights overlooking the romantic harbor of Porthleven.”
They might not need to if Gordon takes over.
