Participants do not need a university degree or previous experience for the programand Google considers the certificate itself to be equivalent to a four-year degree.
“University degrees are out of reach for many Americans, and you shouldn’t need a university degree to have economic security,” Walker said in a statement.
“We need new accessible vocational training solutions – from improved professional programs to online education – to help America recover and rebuild,” he said.
Certificate programs last approximately six months.
The new suites are in addition to Google’s existing IT certificate, which was launched in 2018.
Google is also committed to providing $ 10 million in vocational training grants across the country, including to the YWCA, NPower and JFF, which help women, veterans and the under-represented gain skills.
The Google announcement comes as the country experienced an economic slowdown in the middle of the pandemic, after the closure of several industries during home orders.
