“Glee” actress Naya Rivera drowned in Lake California

Actress Naya Rivera, known for her role in “Glee”, is said to have drowned in “what appears to be a tragic accident” while sailing with her son on a Californian lake, authorities said on Thursday. Rivera was missing on Wednesday when her 4-year-old son was found alone on a pontoon.Sergeant Kevin Donoghue told a news conference on Thursday that Rivera and his son had hired a boat to go out on Lake Piru in the Los Padres National Forest at around 1 p.m. local time. The rental was to last three hours – and when the couple did not return at 4:30 p.m. the workers went looking for them, said Donoghue.

The boy told authorities that he and his mother swam in the lake and said he got back into the boat, but his mother did not, according to a report from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Naya Rivera presumed dead, officials say

Video footage showed that Rivera and her son were the only ones boarding the boat, said Donoghue. The boy “gave enough information to the investigators to conclude that his mother never came out of the water,” although Donoghue did not specify exactly what the boy said.
