France makes masks compulsory in certain parts of north-west Mayenne | News

PARIS (Reuters) - Les autorités ont ordonné aux gens de commencer à porter des masques dans certaines parties de la région nord-ouest de la Mayenne, jeudi, après une augmentation des infections à coronavirus.

The prefecture of Mayenne declared that masks would be compulsory in its main city, Laval as well as in five other municipalities – Bonchamp-lès-Laval, Changé, L’Huisserie, Louverné and Saint-Berthevin.

“In Mayenne, the situation is problematic today,” France Inter Olivier Veran, French Minister of Health, said on radio.

The announcement came before a national ordinance making masks mandatory in all closed public spaces across France from August 1.

France has so far demanded that people wear face covers in public transport and in public spaces where social distancing is not possible, but has not made it mandatory to wear masks in stores .
