Former Munster second rank moves to France

Former Munster Gerbrandt Grobler has signed with the French club Stade Fran├žais.Grobler signed a two-year contract with the Top 14, joining the Gloucester Rugby club in the Premiership.

Born in South Africa, Grobler moved to Munster from the Top 14 Racing 92 side during the 2017/2018 season.

The impressive second row had previously represented the Western Province in the Currie and Vodacom Cups, and played Super Rugby with the Stormers.

An ankle injury sustained in the pre-season game against the Worcester Warriors delayed the debut of Grobler’s Munster, but returned to action in January 2018, helping Munster A advance to the quarterfinals of the British & Irish Cup.

He made his Guinness PRO14 debut against Zebre at Thomond Park in February 2018 and continued with a first appearance in the Champions Cup on the bench against Toulon in the quarter-final of the Champions Cup.

Grobler started 23 times for Gloucester after joining cherries and whites before the 2018-19 season.
