Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was widely ridiculed on social media after his bizarre role in equalizing Southampton’s last breath on Monday.
The center back, signed for Leicester’s £ 80m last summer, seemed to have team-mate Aaron Wan-Bissaka scored by the man for the timeout – leaving Michael Obafemi free to tap at home.
And after United suffered the blow in their Champions League football run, rival supporters turned to Twitter to tear up the defender.

The hosts seemed ready to secure three points at Old Trafford after goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, but they were caught strangely after chaos in the penalty area.
The images show Maguire with his arms around Wan-Bissaka, while the goalscorer Obafemi was allowed to relieve the bad side of Victor Lindelof behind him and to go home within a few centimeters.
The English international probably tried to use his teammate as leverage to turn away a head, but the moment of madness rather led United to settle for a share of the booty.

One user called Maguire “the most expensive version of (David) Luiz with a bigger head” – referring to the Arsenal defender under fire after his series of high-profile mistakes this season.
Another also referred to Luiz and described his counterpart United as a “pub player”.
A third wrote: “Maguire was shocking at each center … did the same at Southampton’s first goal. Tears of a defender.
Maguire later admitted his disappointment at the setback and accelerated the lack of focus in the corner – which has been further exposed due to the recent resurgence of United.
He said, “We have taken control of the game, we have had many opportunities to kill it, we were not at our best, there are many areas that we need to improve on, but we have done enough to win the game. A set-play finally killed us.
“The defense of set pieces is something that we have improved so much in this undefeated race. At the start of the season we had a terrible record, conceding set-play after set-play and we have been very good with them lately.
“We are disappointed at the moment but we know we have to dust off, we have big games to come and we have to go for the three points. “

The defender also believes that the home team has failed to cope with Southampton’s energetic and physical style, which led to Stuart Armstrong returning the opening goal after Paul Pogba was denied the ball.
“It’s a team that has no pressure on them; come to Old Trafford, no fans, play the pride of the league but cannot be relegated or cannot reach Europe, “he added.
“We knew they were going to press like crazy, they were jumping like crazy and we didn’t handle it well enough in the first 20 minutes.
“We went back into the game where we wanted to be, and then the second half was a bit complicated, but we weren’t good enough on the ball.”
