Disney World reopening gets mixed initial reactions – Deadline

As Disney reopened its first theme park, Walt Disney World, now in Florida, amid the explosion in the number of coronaviruses, social media immediately attacked the entertainment conglomerate, criticizing the decision to take over the theme park activities, calling it premature and risky.Florida has now seen more than 250,000 total confirmed cases of coronavirus and has recorded more than 300 deaths in the past three days, with 11,000 new cases reported the day the park reopens today.

Disney World, which had been closed for almost four months, follows the reopening in May of Shanghai Disneyland with safety precautions and strict social distancing rules.

Theme park reporter Carlye Wisel visited Disney World today and noted that the proper social distancing guidelines quickly collapsed when visitors entered the park.

Other first visitors were just happy to be back in the park after the long closure.

Some social media users have targeted the happy Disney welcome videos posted online before the reopening of its global resort. Remix images of the park with strange music, including a horror classic The brilliant, they reinvented the reopening of Disney as a sign of a dystopian present.
