Delta flight performs emergency landing at JFK airport in New York after hail damaged airplane nose


QUEENS, New York City (WABC) – Delta Airlines said hail, not a bird, caused damage that forced a flight to make an emergency landing at New York’s JFK airport. A319 carrying 43 passengers from Palm Beach, Florida, landed safely at JFK Airport just before 7:00 p.m. Monday.The photos show that the front cone of the aircraft, which houses radar equipment, suffered significant damage.RELATED | Storms fall on trees, causing sudden flooding in New Jersey

A spokesperson said during the inspection that there were other signs of damage along the wings and tail of the aircraft. The aircraft will be retired from service for several days.

No injuries were reported.

The FAA is also investigating.
