Actress Kristian Alfonso says goodbye to her long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives, leaving the series after 37 years of airing.

The actress joined the soap in 1983 as Hope Williams, appearing in more than 2,500 episodes of the series in the past 37 years.

The show plans to start production on September 1, but as 56-year-old Alfonso revealed in his statement on Instagram, she won’t be returning when filming begins.

“Days of Our Lives has been an essential part of my personal and professional journey,” said Alfonso’s statement.

“I am eternally grateful to NBC and the late Bette Corday, who took a great chance on me years ago and changed my life,” she added, referring to the co-creator of the series who died in 1987 at the age of 75.

She also congratulated her casting comrades, adding that she built “friendships for life” with her fellow actors and congratulating the team for being “one of the hardest working teams on television, many of whom make part of my extended family. “
