“Dancing with the stars”: host Tyra Banks at the entrance, Tom Bergeron outside

The next top host of “Dancing With the Stars” is: Tyra Banks. The long ABC ball series will undergo a fierce makeover – and will undoubtedly enter the “smize” game – as Banks takes over from Tom Bergeron. Bergeron, who has hosted the show for 28 seasons since its debut in the United States in 2005, succeeded the series of celebrity competitions alongside sports commentator Erin Andrews until the duo announced their departure on Tuesday Twitter.

Banks, the model turned entrepreneur, previously hosted and directed the America’s Next Top Model modeling competition series. She also hosted “America’s Got Talent” and a daytime talk show, “The Tyra Banks Show”, and was the guest host of “The View” on ABC. She will also be an executive producer on “DWTS”.

“I’ve been a fan of” DWTS “since its inception,” said Banks in a statement. “Pleasure mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities pushing their comfort zones, sizzling dance performances… it always took me to my days to climb 10 notches on the podium.

“Tom paved the way for a powerful stage, and I’m delighted to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and my hosting hats.”

Banks’ announcement comes as ABC and BBC studios are planning a “creative refresh” for the scintillating ballroom competition, which has already dramatically downsized since its peak of two nights in the last few days.

It is not known how the show, which requires closely choreographed dance routines, will function during the COVID-19 pandemic. The cast for season 29 has not yet been announced and it is unclear whether Banks will have a co-host.

Bergeron and Andrews, a former competitor, said goodbye to the feather-filled dance performance on Tuesday.

“It was an incredible 15 year race and the most unexpected gift of my career,” Bergeron tweeted. “I am grateful for this and for the lifelong friendships that have been made. ”

“I will always treasure my days on this set, even if I was not the best at walking in heels,” wrote Andrews, who joined the team in 2014.

Bergeron, who also hosts ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos, was best known for his daddy jokes and jokes on the nose with Andrews and the judges. He made headlines last year when he criticized ABC for casting former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

“Tom has been an integral part of the ABC family for almost two decades, from hosting” AFV “to” Dancing With the Stars “- we are grateful for all that he and Erin have done to make” Dancing “a success, “said ABC. Entertainment President Karey Burke.
