One person tested positive for COVID-19 on the Haida Gwaii Island archipelago off the coast of British Columbia
In a statement released Friday, the Haida Nation informed residents that one person self-identified as having been tested for the virus and that the test came back positive.
The bulletin also stated that the Council had heard from members of the community who were in close contact with the person and who are now isolated.
A state of emergency released earlier this year was updated on Saturday, noting that the councils of Skidegate and Old Massett have instituted curfews and checkpoints to limit gatherings and movement in those communities.
Non-residents of Haida Gwaii continue to be prohibited from visiting the islands for the time being.
Residents are advised to stay on the islands unless travel is essential, and if they choose to leave, they should self-isolate for 14 days upon their return to Haida Gwaii.
