A few cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Alberta correctional system, mainly in institutions in Calgary and Lethbridge.

Between May 8 and June 28, Alberta Heath Services said five cases were confirmed at the Calgary Remand Center, one at the city’s youth correctional center and one at the Lethbridge correctional center.

Jonah Mozeson, press secretary to Minister of Justice Doug Schweitzer, said in an email that everyone who contracted the virus did so in their community outside the facility. They were tested on arrival and immediately quarantined.
