Vacationers “will bear all the risks” when the trips abroad come back, because they are unlikely to repay if they isolate themselves.
Anyone with symptoms of coronavirus when they plan to leave is very unlikely to get their money back when their vacation is canceled.
Vacation packages and travel insurance are unlikely to pay.
Alex Neill, of the Resolver resolution service, said British tourists should be aware that they were “taking a risk”.
“It is likely that the new travel insurance policies will not cover you if you develop symptoms before going on vacation – and if the flight or package vacation is not canceled, you are not automatically entitled to a compensation, “she said.

Starting next week, general restrictions on non-essential overseas travel are expected to be relaxed in the UK.
Travel agencies said vacation bookings had “exploded” after ministers announced that the restrictions would be relaxed.
Interest has been heightened by the hope that dozens of countries will be exempt from travel quarantine requirements.
This should mean that British holidaymakers returning from low-risk countries will not need to isolate themselves for 14 days when they return home.
Travel insurance gaps
People traveling abroad are strongly advised to take out travel insurance which will always cover them in the event of an accident, injury, loss of luggage, etc. A European health insurance card will also give access to public healthcare in the EU.
Some new travel insurance policies will now cover medical treatment for Covid-19 which was caught at a station.
However, it is very unlikely that people who have to cancel a holiday because they or a loved one develop symptoms before leaving, or are asked to isolate themselves at home, will not be covered.
Likewise, package tour providers are unlikely to grant a refund or authorize a new booking if a customer cancels in such circumstances.
There is a risk that people with reserved vacations will try to ignore the symptoms or ignore the advice of contact tracers to isolate themselves. The government has said people have a “civic duty” to quarantine if they receive a call from test and traceability advisers.
“Most people would behave responsibly even if it meant losing their vacation, but I would also expect vacation and insurance companies to show some compassion in these circumstances,” said Mrs. Neill.
“Driving consumers to do the wrong thing cannot be an unintended consequence of reopening the lock. ”
Insurance companies argue that the coronavirus is no longer an unforeseen event and therefore cannot be included in coverage.
The additional protection generally available from booking via a credit card is also unlikely to succeed in such cases.
When vacations can be protected
There may be better news for people who have already purchased or renewed a travel insurance policy before the start of March, as they can still apply for cancellation, but they must verify their policy.
If the UK or a destination country reintroduces travel restrictions following a new outbreak, a package tour company or airline should reimburse vacations or flights which it must then cancel.
However, refunds are unlikely if a 14-day quarantine rule is reintroduced and a vacationer decides to cancel accordingly.
